How To Plead Your Case With God and Come Out Victorious

Job 23:3-7
3Oh, that I knew where I might find Him,
That I might come to His seat!
4I would present my case before Him,
And fill my mouth with arguments.
5I would know the words which He would answer me,
And understand what He would say to me.

Job 23:3-7
3Oh, that I knew where I might find Him,
That I might come to His seat!
4I would present my case before Him,
And fill my mouth with arguments.
5I would know the words which He would answer me,
And understand what He would say to me.
6Would He contend with me in His great power?
No! But He would take note of me.
7There the upright could reason with Him,
And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.

Can a man argue with God and win his case? Is it spiritually legal to engage in confrontaion with the one who holds your destiny in His hand? The answer to these questions could litterally shift your prayer life. It has always been the heart of God to increase the divine wisdom of man as it pertains to who He is. It has also been His heart that you never allow anything to come between your fellowship with Him. Communication is His passion.
Mastering the art of pleading is a powerful concept that every mature believer should seek to understand. Now when I say pleading, I’m not speaking of manipulating God. Wesley Duewel lays out a bleuprint for in his book “Mighty Prevailing Prayer:”
“This Holy argumentation with God is not done in a negative, complaining spirit. It is the expression not of a critical heart but of a heart burning with love for God, for His name, and for His glory. It’s a passionate presentation to God of the many reasons why it will be in harmony with His nature, His government, and the history of His holy intervention on behalf of His people.”
Jim Goll put it this way in “The Lost Art of Intercession:” ….we are only authorized to argue or present our case for things and petition which 1) are in accordance with God’s will; 2) extend His Kingdom; and 3) glorify His name.

Let me expound on the seven bases of appeal that Wesley Duewel points out:
1) Plead the Honor and Glory of God’s Name: The Bible says in Psalm 106:8 “Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, That He might make His mighty power known.” God saved Israel at the Red Sea for His names sake. God desires to deliver you because He carries a rep that superceeds anything that we could ever say or do. On our best day we still miss the mark. But He is ready and willing to save, deliver, heal, and release the breakthrough that you are seeking him for all for His name sake.
2) Plead Gods Relationships to Us: God is our Creator, Helper, Redeemer, and Father. We have the right to speak to Him based on how he declares Himself to man in His word. Job 10:3,8-9 says “you are our creator and we are the work of His hands.” David declares Him (Psalm 46:1) as our ever present help in times of trouble. Isaiah 54:8 “With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” Says the LORD, your Redeemer.”
